"CONFIDENT RELAXATION" WITH BRIAN DAVID COLLINS
Brian David Collins is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter raised in The Colorado Rockies. He is a CSU graduate, and a long time performer, entertaining crowds of all walks of life for two decades and counting. In his hometown of Fort Collins and the surrounding areas he is most well-known for his time with The Seers, a variety acoustic duo. In recent years he has dedicated his creative efforts to his solo project, Brian David Collins. Brian has just relocated to the small historic town of Hodgenville Kentucky for a new chapter in life.
What hot sounds in the city should fans be listening to of yours right now?
From my Sad Songs Glad Songs release, I would suggest either Crash, Five Alarm Fire, or the title track, Sad songs Glad Songs.
How has the reception been to new music?
I released this project right before moving to Kentucky. This being said, the Brian David Collins band didn’t get much of a chance to play music from the new record live. The main release show we played at The Lincoln Center in Fort Collins yielded a lot of positive response. I am looking forward to sharing this music and giving it its day in the sun during our time working together.
What are you looking forward to most when you perform in front of an audience this year?
I am looking forward to having a reason to get the band together and sharing our music with new faces. Although I have made a move for the interest of my family, I want to play live shows for the interest of this band. Making music has been a highly intuitive process and we’ve worked very hard on our arrangements. I’ve got to keep this passion alive, and there’s no better way to do it than to play for new ears to hear.
What was the intention set for your music?
After many years of writing and experimenting with lyrical and musical expression it seemed appropriate to form a new project with songs about love, maturation as a person and attraction to the more wholesome ways of living. This isn’t a rebellious musical effort that tries to be shocking with its lyrics. Brian David Collins is a project that focuses on what is built to last.
What was the most important message to impart with your music?
As times change and conflicting messages fill our lives, it is important to stay grounded within ourselves. Seek to walk through forgotten doors and stay inspired! Value all you have gone through as part of yourself, and no matter how you change, don’t forget compassion others have shown and don’t exclude the love in your life. One day it's here, the next day it could be gone.
How do you want your fans to treat themselves after listening to your music?
I would like my fans to find themselves in a state of confident relaxation. I hope the music will help bring them closer to that blissful state where one can act lovingly in an effortless way. Living and loving day by day is the way to personal improvement, a message I want my fans to be closer to after listening to my music.
What is a song of yours that you have on repeat right now to set the mood for 2022?
To set the mood for 2022, I would suggest Toning Song, off my Golden Age LP. This song was inspired when I was doing a lot of vocal toning, an age-old practice that tunes the body and the mind through sounds made from within. This process seems to compact months of meditation into a few short minutes. This song was written in 2019, but I’m hoping that for 2022 it helps listeners to renew, remember, and feel limitless once again. This is a song about personal faith and moving forward!
