Singer/ Songwriter Brynn Bowman says her listeners will get to know her better this year.
Do you have some hot new sounds in the works right now with your music?
Yes! I am recording two new singles set to release later this year. One of them is a deep look into mental health and depression. The second one is a love song! (GASP!) I never write love songs!
Is it difficult to release new music?
It is a lot more work than you would think. There are three parts to the process: writing, recording, and releasing. For me, writing the songs takes a while, because I only like 10% of what I create. Once I have something I’m excited about, I record it with my producer and make it sound beautiful and magical and worth listening to. Then it takes about six weeks for promotion and distribution to streaming platforms. What the public sees is maybe 20% of the work!
What kind of sounds can your fans expect from you next?
I’m diving into my feelings, y’all. It’s still edgy and whimsical, but the music will surround difficult experiences from pits of depression to longing for love. My listeners will definitely get to know me better this year.
Is there ever a moment you want to change something in your music last minute?
I would describe myself as a perfectionist. I don’t like to take half-baked songs into the studio. I prefer to feel confident in my art before showing it to the world. I tend to want to change the mix a lot once the producer has sent it to me, but usually nothing at the last minute.
Would you consider yourself a perfectionist?
YES! Exactly that. My songs are part of my soul, and I strive to communicate those parts as clearly as I can. I want listeners to relate to my lyrics and connect them to their own experiences. I try not to keep myself in a box, but I like to be refined.
Are you performing anywhere this summer?
I have a few shows coming up near the end of the summer and beginning of the fall. I can’t wait to see all the beautiful faces in person! You can see all the show dates on my website!
