Lainey Dionne Releases New Album Self Titled
Rhode Island-bred Lainey Dionne is an indie pop singer/songwriter and she just released her debut album Self Titled on August 31st, 2021!!
Lainey’s 12 song album Self Titled is an emotional rollercoaster ride of raw, honest emotions that come with toxic and healthy relationships. “I chose ‘Self Titled’ as the name for my album because I am not defined by my exes, they do not represent my name, but they did shape me into the person I am today through the good and the bad- and now that I’ve come out the other side, I feel entitled to myself again”. Three singles from the album have won and been nominated for numerous awards. Foreign fling bop “Hey London" won the International Songwriting Competition, Unsigned Only Competition and is nominated for NEMA Song of the Year. Dark pop ballad "Skin" has won the New England Songwriting Competition and was a semifinalist in the International Songwriting Competition. Her most recent single ”I Love You To Death” is a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. A New England girl at heart, Lainey is not afraid to speak her mind through her songs. She has one goal- to make you feel, and this album will do just that.
Self Titled is Lainey Dionne’s debut album! You can hear her musical influences of Billie Eilish, Halsey, k.flay and Lorde throughout the record.
Starting off with a super catchy pop track, “Hey London,” I love the hooks and chorus I can’t help but sing along. The song tells a love story that ended poorly and Dionne is telling her ex that she is done with them and is moving on. This is such a great theme, it’s so relatable! It can often be difficult to heal and move on from a break up, but I can assure you when you listen to “Hey London” you get the power and strength to leave that part of your life behind and move forward. “Last Flight” is an emotional track, talking about heartbreak and the importance of moving on with your life. The music builds continuously through the track and carries a darker sound that adds to the raw emotional flair of Dionne. “Wake up Call” has an angsty pop punk edgy vibe to it that gets the blood pumping and makes you want to rock around the house! From the first note you are overwhelmed with a rush of energy. You get the feeling that everything is going to be alright and your worries are left behind you as you walk out the door and move on with your life. I really love this track! It has great vibes and tells a valuable life lesson that everyone can take to heart.
This album is a very strong debut album from Lainey Dionne. It’s about heartbreak, self love/care, recovery and picking yourself up. Listening to Dionne’s vulnerability in each track shows that everyone goes through the same things in life.
Love is such an incredible thing but it is also one of the most difficult treasures to find in life. You will have to endure heartbreaks and tribulations on your way to finding that one person that you want to spend the rest of your life with. Dionne tells us that it’s okay to fall down, it’s okay to get hurt because you are going to come out the other side even stronger and better than ever! You are going to overcome your struggles and troubles and rise above. Each track in this album has relatable lyrics and incredibly catchy choruses and wonderful music. If you’re feeling down I promise you Self Titled will help you through it!
