New Music with Virginia Sweet!

Hi Virginia Sweet! Thank you for joining me today!

Not a problem, Thank you for inviting us, we are happy to be here!

You all are gearing up for the release of your debut album! Will you tell us a little bit about it?

Oh man, where to start…when talking about “The Revival” the stories could go on for days. Everything happened so quickly with this album. Starting off as just a fun idea, we played one show, and the demand for the music was so strong we knew we needed to get into the studio. It is a culmination of everything the three of us have experienced in life, rolled up into just a magical set of songs. The title really comes from a place of bringing back the styles of some of the greats in rock music. We love to jam, and have fun with the music…and this project left us with no limitations on where we could go!

What was the creative process for it?

A fluid turning into a liquid Is the best description I can come up with (laugh). Our creative process is pretty loose and flowing. Most of our songs come from a rehearsal warm up or tangent we went down. Jump or I will come up with a riff or run, we jam on it for awhile and go… hey this should be a song (laugh). Ricky is just an absolute machine on the drums, he knows exactly where the vibe of the song sits before its even completed. He paves the perfect road for Jump and I to travel down, speed limit signs and all (laugh) Once we have a general idea of where we want to go with the direction of the song I will sit down on my own and put together a story/emotion/experience lyrically the song seems to invoke within myself. It’s a very isolated process for me personally. Once the foundation of lyrics is done, Jump comes back in with these solos out of nowhere that put one of those unbelievable smiles, like what did I just witness smiles, he is just phenomenal to say the least.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

I think this one of those questions that shows how we all come from different yet similar choices of music that have really help develop our sound so far. For me Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, and Black Label Society) was my absolute idol growing up, life-size cardboard cut outs and all. I am also a huge Maynard James Keenan (A Perfect Circle, and Tool) fan. Jump will tell you everyday…Warren Haynes, Warren Haynes, Warren Haynes. Ricky is a tough nut to crack but I usually get Benny Greb, and Dave Stanoch out of him (laugh)

Who would be a dream collaboration for you?

I feel we all listen to and appreciate so many styles of music and artists this would be a hard pick! So we will keep it super short and sweet, see if you can decide who voted for who. Gov’t Mule – A Perfect Circle – Snarky Puppy

Do you have a mantra or piece of advice you carry with you that you like to pass on to other musicians?

Don’t stop, keep moving on…If music is your passion, embrace it and run with it. It will take you on the most epic journey you could ever ask for. It is a never ending learning process, and there will be ups and downs along the way, but just keep working at it. Don’t give up, your dreams are in your hands.

Any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for?

We are currently preparing for our release tour this August, and working on tours/dates for 2022. Always keep your ear to the ground for Virginia Sweet, we have a few tricks up our sleeves (laugh)
