THE FUTURE OF ALEX BUTLER
Alex Butler talks what kind of performer he is and what music you should be listening to now!
What hot new sounds in your music are you currently working on?
I’m working on a song right now that blends 80s hair metal with country music. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, because I really love both genres. It’s called “Rock N Roll Country Queen” just imagine Warrant guitar licks with some Luke Bryan twang. I guess that is the best way to describe it. I’m really stoked about this song.
Where are you going next with your music that has you excited?
I’m really just excited about playing new venues and going to new places. I always enjoy everything I do. Putting out new merch, new music, new dates, and new venues. Is always what I’m striving for in the future.
How much practice goes into getting your music just right?
I don’t mind “practice” every once and awhile but I’m more of a hands on type performer so I do things on the fly and if it works I continue to do it and if it doesn’t I try again the next go around. But when me and the band are putting out new songs we usually get a couple solid practices in to make sure the songs sound the way we want it to sound.
Do you ever feel like your music is ready? Or is it hard to let go?
I’m always a front runner for putting out new music all the time. Even if it’s a stripped down acoustic version of a song. However when I’m in the studio with a full song or album it does take me a little to put the finishing touches on it. I am a perfectionist that way. I just want the best product out there. Usually what I do after I record is, I sit on it for about a week just listening to it and making sure it sounds great on all platforms.
What should fans be listening to right NOW?
Ah dang, well this is a loaded question, first you should definitely be listening to my album Crazy Town and it’s got a little bit of every music style on it. Besides my music you should totally be listening to my friends: The Swon Brothers, Devin Matthews, Ray Fulcher, Carly Rogers, and Philip Michael Parsons. All of these artists are legit and you will find something that you like. Some are independent artists making their way and some are more established artists really making a new for themselves now.
