Hey Modern Amusement! What is amusing YOU right now with your music making?
I suppose for me it's just the joy of creating something. I'm the type of person that gets the most emotional stimulation when I'm creating something more than doing anything else, so it's kind of just something I have to do to keep myself satisfied. Making music and drawing comics are my elements, and luckily with Modern Amusement I can do both!
What hot sounds in the city should fans be listening to of yours right now?
Modern Amusement just released a brand new song called 'Sour Patch Kid'! It's a fast and fun punk-rock type song, which is kind of different for us. It's a really good one to turn up loud so I hope you'll check it out!
How has the reception been to new music?
It's been great! We've definitely been getting much more feedback on this release than any previous. Our last song before this one, 'I Have A Crush On Lisa Loeb' kind of blew up slightly and we were lucky to gain many more listeners around that time, so it's great to see so many new faces coming in to check out our new stuff as it releases!
What are you looking forward to most when you sit in front of an audience?
To me the best part about a live show is seeing people connecting with the music. I recently saw a clip from one of my shows where I saw people on the side jumping up and down and singing along, which I didn't catch when I was actually in the moment. It made me really happy to see, there are very few things more rewarding as a musician than seeing people clicking with your music in the moment, it's very powerful.
What is an album that you have on repeat right now?
I've been listening to Happy Bivouac by The Pillows, a Japanese rock band from the 90's. I originally learned about them as a kid when I watched the anime FLCL where they were featured heavily, but they have so many other great songs to discover even beyond that show's soundtrack.
What song of YOURS do you have on repeat?
It's gotta be 'Sour Patch Kid' right now! Can't wait to play it at some shows in the future!
