THE NEXT MUSIC ADVENTURES OF SUGAR NAP
What hot sounds in the city should fans be listening to of yours right now off your Sugar Nap EP?
Hot sounds in Sugar Nap city! Honestly, all of the EPs are great, in my objective opinion. I can’t really pick a favorite, but as far as unique sounds, Brown Eyes, Going Nowhere, and Stay have quite a few unique sounds throughout them!
How has the reception been to the new music?
The reception to the new music has been warm. I’m very grateful. I’ve gotten some great radio play across the country and am looking forward to seeing the reception once I bring it out live.
What are you looking forward to most when you sit in front of an audience?
Honestly, when I sit in front of an audience, I get so excited to see a reaction. I’m up there genuinely pouring my heart and soul into what I’m doing, and to elicit an emotional response from people who take the time to come see what I do is so incredible.
The music is vulnerable. Was this the intention set for the music?
I think as far as intentions go for the music and lyrics, they are all quite genuine. I don’t mind being vulnerable. We all feel many of the same emotions, I think we can celebrate vulnerability and share that. Slow Motion in particular was almost too vulnerable for me to release, which is why it has a much more upbeat and playful vibe. I wanted to somewhat shield the vulnerability in the lyrics.
What was the most important message to impart with the new EP?
The most important message I wanted to leave with the EP was I think a display of what I’m producing musically and lyrically, and to excite listeners for what else I have coming. I have SO much music written and recorded, it’s an adventure packaging it to be the most impactful and getting it all out there.
How do you want your fans to treat themselves after listening to your music?
After listening to my music I want fans to turn off their phones and go outside and watch the night sky, or watch the rain wash down their window, or drive to the coast or some mountain and appreciate a certain oneness with everything.
What is an album that you have on repeat right now?
Right now, the album I have on repeat is James Blake’s new album “Friends That Break Your Heart”. I’m a huge James Blake fan, and the album is phenomenal.
