Modern Natives is a high-energy trio featuring melodic bass lines, audacious guitar, and a melting pot full of vocals. They love to have fun with their music while making sure the lyrics are meaningful. An ever-changing sound, blending rock, punk, pop and subgenres. Modern Natives are an explosive crossover - proof that punk isn’t dead.

When you look at all the music you have made, what is the big picture for how you want your artistry to be seen?

We strive to keep our music interesting, fun and meaningful so we like to incorporate artistic diversity between each song. We pull from current events, political climates, and try to give a voice to people who do not feel heard. As far as the big picture, we hope our music resonates with the world in a provocative manner.

You challenge the status quo, how did you identify your purpose for the music you wanted to put out?

We want the final product, our music, to be thought provoking whether it is positive or negative. We like to get people to think about questions and current events that people generally avoid speaking about because it is uncomfortable.

When you create your body of work, are there boxes you must check or does everything evolve as it should be and you allow for the checklist to not be completely checked?

Every work of art starts with a basic checklist which could completely fly out of the window. Some songs come together much more quickly than others and that is related to multiple factors. There are a few "to do" things we make sure every track has, but every track is different so the same checklist might not apply to everything. Regardless, we have a great time constructing, writing and composing together!

Could you give us some insight of what your checklist does look like if you have one?

We generally start with a vocal and/or instrumental melody and evolve from there. Gradually we add more instruments, better lyrics and any effects if needed. Following that, we create the album art, write up the story behind the song, prepare our publications, and start the marketing process for the release!

Who are you paying homage to for your vision as artists?

If you mean which bands and artists are our favorites, we're inspired by so many. We can all agree that when we perform and write new music, we're largely doing it for ourselves, our families, friends, businesses, and communities that have shown us such kindness and shaped us into the artists we are today.

You are a visionary, please keep us in the loop of what your plans are for more music and WHERE you are headed next for your fans to connect with you?

We are currently recording more releases to be distributed over the next 3-4 months. We are preparing to undergo our second tour starting on the US East Coast in April 2023 and taking us back to Alaska where we will be performing throughout the summer. We're also developing more and more merchandise that's available on our website. It's the best way to support us directly and help us on the journey!
